Ceci ‘n est pas un Café! Café Henry is a tableware design studio (coincidental my tableware design studio). Where I design and make fun items for the dinner table. Next to the design of the items themselves, I could indulge myself in it’s branding, webdesign, animation and social content.
A vintage feel
The main focus of café Henry is bringing people around the table. Be it for good conversations with friends, that last into the wee little hours of the night or for first words spoken by little ones over breakfast. Tableware, such as tablecloths and beautiful linnen napkins make every mealtime feel like a little party. It’s an invitation to take it slow, to take time for each other and spend precious time together. Therefore, the nostalgic feeling of sitting around the dinner table with loved ones was the starting point of Café Henry’s branding. Faded colours, hand painted illustrations and grainy textures combined with vintage photography give the brand it’s distinctive yet timeless look.

With a background in film and graphic design, I can’t help but make a lot of motion graphics for Cafe Henry :-) Plus, Instagram highly values the use of moving images in the algorithm, making these kinds of graphics an interesting marketing tool.

Packaging
Designing packaging for a small and sustainable brand is a fun challenge. Next to keeping it’s manufacturing costs low, it had to communicate clearly about Cafe Henry and the product itself. The inside houses a colourful surprise.

I’ve designed the website, including webshop, with the ambition of making Cafe Henry a content-forward brand. Where stories and inspiration can be found, rather than it just being a sales-platform.
